Hello! First of all I would like to thank you for purchasing my theme! :)
If you have any questions that are beyond the scope of this help file, please feel free to ask your question at Contact.

This file will teach you how to set up and use the WOXA WordPress Theme.
This file is really extensive so you might think the theme is hard to use,
actually its not, you probably just might jump to the options page and explore everything yourself, this file is more of a reference work if you do not know what to do, or if you are not familiar to WordPress.

Have fun with your new theme! best regards

You can either choose to upload the theme to your server via ftp (only upload the unzipped folder WOXA into the folder wp-content/themes/ ) or via WordPress upload function. to use the upload function of the WordPress admin panel make sure to ONLY upload the “WOXA” folder and not the whole archive file that you received by themeforest.

Notice: if you are new to WordPress and have problems installing it you might want to check out this link: Solving broken theme issues
After that is done activate the theme as you would activate any other theme at Appearance->Themes.

Import Dummy Data

There is a one click demo installer in the theme package. If you find any problem using it then please use the default wordpress importer.

In order to import the dummy data please navigate to the Theme Options under Appearances and open the Install Demo Option. Click the install content option and you are set to go live.

Notice: If you have problem using the built-in importer. Please use the default wordpress importer.

Setting up the Theme Options - top

If you want to change the settings of the Theme; Go to "Appearance" > "Theme Options" and click it, you will notice several tabs with options, which we will discuss now one by one.

Main Blog Layout
First of all you have to choose where you want the sidebar in your blog. The options are None, Right, Left.

Next you can choose the sidebar position for single page like you choose for the main blog.

Header Layout
You can choose the header layout for your website. You have two header styles.

Blog Posts Layout
This option will decide the layout for your posts. It can be either Classic, List, Grid or Masonry. Go ahead and play with this option, and choose the one that fits your needs.

Grid Layout
This is optional. It only works with Grid Layout or Masonry Layout. You can choose the Grid to be two cols or three cols.

Setting up Styling - top

Theme Colors:
With only a few different color inputs you can easily create new layouts in seconds.

The theme colors are separated in different sections.

You can apply link colors, font colors, backgrounds etc to each section.

Quick CSS
If you want to do minor changes to the css you can enter them here and they will be added to the css. If you want to do major changes we recommend you to use the custom.css file.

Inorder to set the banner/slider on the Home Page, Navigate to the Home settings on the Theme Options

Now Check the Display Slideshow option and select the layout from the Slideshow Layout option.

Select the category for the slider posts from Featured posts ID option and save the settings.

Notice: Please First create a page and set the Template Option from the sidebar to Custom Blog.

Setting up the Menus on your site - top

The theme offers 2 menu locations: the Main menu location beside your logo and a very small submenu location at the bottom of your page.

Adding simple Posts - top

With the "Creartive post options" option on the right you can select the layout for this specific post. This has four options Default, Left, Right, Full width. By default the Default option will be selected.

Using Post Formats

Post Formats is a theme feature introduced with Version 3.1. A Post Format is a piece of meta information that can be used by a theme to customize its presentation of a post. The theme supports 6 different formats. The standard format is for deault blog entries. The link format is for linked entries to external sites.

If you select "Quote" the post title will be transformed to a woxa quote. The gallery post type doesn't really differ from the standard post type but if you add a gallery anywere to the entry it will be displayed at the top of the entry. If you choose Audio or Video, it will also be extracted and be displayed at the top of the page.

Using shortcodes - top

What is a shortcode and how do i use it?
Shortcodes are small text snippets that get converted by WordPress. As an example:

Using shortcodes is very easy. To use one, create a new post (or edit an existing one), and in the the editor type a shortcode in brackets, such as:

[button]This is a button.[/button]

to generate a button.

The theme comes with quite a few shortcodes that are easily accessible thanks to a visual self-explanatory user interface that is accessible by clicking the magic wand button when you write a post

Most shortcodes require you to enter additional information and then get generated by the theme on its own. For example create 3 columns, and within each of them display a gallery or accordion. Or do it the other way round. The sky is the limit :)

Attention: Please make sure to always start new shortcodes on new lines. Most of the time you wont encounter any errors if you don't do that but unfortunately WordPress does mess up the html sometimes. This is true for all shortcodes.

Some of the shortcodes are given below:

[panel title="The Title"]...[/panel]
[panel title="The Title"]...[/panel]
[panel title="The Title"]...[/panel]

[button type=small link_url="http://google.com"]...[/button]
[button type=medium link_url="http://google.com"]...[/button]
[button type=large link_url="http://google.com"]...[/button]
[button background_color="#000" text_color="#fff" link_url="http://google.com"]...[/button]

There are 2, 3 and 4 column layouts to pick from. For the last column in the row you should add "-last" to the tag, see below for an example

Drop Caps

Google Map

[googlemap width="50%" zoom=14 address="London, England"]
Shortcode Options
  • width: Any px or % value
  • height: Any px or % value
  • api: API key from google.
  • zoom: Zoom value from 1 to 19
  • lat: Latitude
  • long: Longitude
  • scroll: Enable scroll feature

[list type="arrow"]
Shortcode Options
  • type: circle, arrow, cross, tick or just use [list] without type specified to use a standard bullet point style

Alert Message

[msg type=default]...[/msg]
Shortcode Options
  • type: default, notice, success, fail

This theme comes with a collection of page templates, to use them create a new page (Pages > Add New) and then use the drop down menu labelled "Template" on the right side of the page. The templates available are:

  • Default Template
  • Left Sidebar
  • Right Sidebar

With the "WOXA page options" option at the bottom, you can select the page title and description of the page. This can be the title and description of your choice. If you don't enter any title and description, the default title of the page will be selected.

G) Sources and Credits - top

Once again, thank you so much for purchasing this theme. As I said at the beginning, I'd be glad to help you if you have any questions relating to this theme. No guarantees, but I'll do my best to assist. If you have a more general question relating to the themes on ThemeForest, you might consider visiting the forums and asking your question in the "Item Discussion" section.
